Android is a mobile operating system based on Linux kernel. The OS uses open-source code so that any developer can modify it. There is a considerable amount of Android devices from various mobile companies. Android application marketplace — Play Market is the most substantial accumulation of mobile games for one platform with iOS being the second largest one. Partly, such title comes from a little moderation required for an app to be published in the store, so there naturally are many scam apps and viruses there not to mention that any Android app can be pirated relatively easy. The separate bunch of Android devices is gaming consoles on the OS. It is the usual mobile phones but with higher performance values and built-in gamepads for more convenient use. The Google Play Games service was introduced featuring achievements, comparing scores between friends and listing various game tops.
RAWG publishes an average score only once a game has collected
6 or more user votes. Below that it
returns 0.0 — while still returning the full vote
breakdown. So a game nobody has ever rated and a game with five
“exceptional” votes arrive looking identical.
Those suppressed scores are recomputed from the breakdown, which recovers 0 of the 1 games here that would otherwise read as unrated. The rest have no votes at all — mostly obscure, regional or unported titles. That is a real absence, not a gap in the fetch: there is nothing to retrieve.
Everything with a vote ranks in one table, because the order is weighted rather than a raw mean: a score is shrunk toward the all-years mean of 3.79 (too few ranked games here to take a local one) in proportion to how thin its evidence is, so a two-vote 5.0 settles near the middle instead of on top. Metacritic joins at half that weight where it exists.
Ordered by a weighted score, not the raw mean: each game's own average is shrunk toward the all-years mean of 3.79 in proportion to how few votes it rests on, and Metacritic is folded in at half that weight where it exists. A 6-vote 4.67 therefore ranks below a 2,100-vote 4.45 — the raw figure is shown under each score, and sorting by raw score ignores the weighting entirely.
Bars show how the votes split —
Exceptional, Recommended, Meh, Skip.
A ~ on the raw figure marks a score recomputed from a
breakdown RAWG suppresses.
